2bii. The Black Cat’s fault
It was big day for Dev. The HR department was interviewing the employees to decide their promotions. He woke up a bit tired because his anxiety and excitement ensured that he got little to no sleep. He anxiously got ready and was hurrying out of the door when his mother came and stopped him. He got irritated but his mother just wanted to give him the good luck charm i.e., some curd and sugar. This lifted his mood and made him feel quite better.
But on the way, a black cat came in front of his car and crossed his way. Since it was the rush hour and a busy road, he couldn’t take a U-turn. Again, his anxiety was back and he felt doomed.
Dev’s mother wants to know what happened during the day but Dev is recounting the day in a haphazard manner. Can you help his mother understand everything by putting the list in the right order? Here is the list of the events:
Do you think the day would have turned out to be different if the black cat didn’t cross Dev’s way? Or what do you think would have happened if the black cat did cross Dev’s way but Dev didn’t see it crossing?
¿Did you know? English monarch Charles I thought that his black cat was a source of luck for him. When his black cat died, he lamented that his good fortune would end. And the next day, he was arrested and charged with high treason.
2bi. The Game of the Rings
Enjoy the story and find out how 4 best friends took different routes.
Naman, Saras, Bob and Kanak are classmates and more importantly, PUBG teammates. They always play together and once in a blue moon when they decide to study, they do even that together. They are average in studies and a little above average in PUBG. Though they are very serious about PUBG and work very hard for it, this is the first time that they are studying quite hard. And the reason behind it is that they want the latest iPhone because they think that it will improve their gameplay. And their parents have set a condition that if they manage to score 80% in their annual exams, they will get the latest iPhone. After studying for a few days, they realised that it is quite difficult to fulfil the condition. So they decided to meet Ponga Pandit and seek his help. The Ponga Pandit gave all of them rings with personalised gems and assured them that they will score at least 80%. The four friends were quite relieved and happy. But for the first time, the four friends took different paths.
Naman stopped studying and left everything on fate. He thought that since the Pandit has already assured, he is bound to get 80%. So instead of studying, he increased his gaming hours and decided to work hard on the game. He went for the exams with just the ring and no preparation.
Saras also stopped studying. But just two weeks before the exams, his faith on the Pandit wavered a little. He got anxious about his lack of preparation and started studying with full force. He went for the exams with the ring and little preparation.
Bob also felt confident after getting the ring. But then, he thought that he could get 85% if he worked hard. And this would certainly entitle him to ask for something extra, like a recliner to play PUBG comfortably. So he decided to double his efforts and studied quite hard. He went for the exams with the ring and good preparation.
Kanak considered himself smarter than all of his friends. He felt confident after getting the ring but at the same time, he thought that leaving everything to fate would not be prudent. He thought that the Pandit must have taken into account his usual efforts while calculating his result of 80% and must have given a ring accordingly. So he decided to study as usual. He went for the exams with the ring and his usual preparation.

2ai. Ponga Pandit’s Bowl
Do you know what Ponga Pandit was doing while he was acting to be in a state of deep meditation? Rather than experiencing the calming effects of meditation, he was quite stressed and tensed. Though he had a fixed rate-card, he was afraid that some of his devotees had paid less. He couldn’t go and check the money in the presence of devotees. Ponga Pandit wished there was some way he could accurately predict the money in his bowl.
Let’s help the conman ensure that he isn’t being conned. His rate-card was: Women= Rs 2, Men= Rs 3, Girls= Rs 4. And he knew that so far 5 women, 3 men and 2 girls have bowed in front of the bowl to pay their respect, and of course money. Can you bring the right number of women, men and girls towards the bowl.? The Lakshman Rekha around the bowl will guide you! Then press the Check button. If the area turns green, the devotees were honest. And if it turns red, the conman was conned. Here you go!
